John E. Martin

SAVANNAH – John E. Martin, 94, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving friends.
A native of Mt. Vernon, GA he had lived in Savannah for the past 50 years and was retired from the Savannah Morning News.
He served along with his brothers, Ralph and Raymond, in the Armed Forces during World War II and all survived the war to lead long and productive lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Martin, and two daughters, Debbie and Carolyn.
Surviving are his brother, Harley Martin of Macon, GA, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear loving friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Very sorry to his family and friends for your loss. We owe such a debt of gratitude to all of our WWII Veterans for their commitment and sacrifice in defense of our Nation during the darkest of days. Thank you Mr John Martin for your dedication and service in our beloved Navy during combat operations in the South Pacific. I salute you Sir and sincerely pray that you may rest in peace.
